  • 100th birthday celebrations

    02 February 2021

In the past 12 months Lincombe Manor has celebrated two residents each reaching a glorious 100 years old. We celebrated Betty in July and Eileen only last week.

Sadly due to the pandemic family and friends could not be present in person however our well being team with the help of Holly our Administrator made sure they celebrated in style.

Holly organised cards from the Queen. Roxy planned parties for both ladies and Joanna our cook made the most spectacular cakes.

Justine Thelwell, General Manager said: “The team were truly amazing. They thought of every detail to make each person’s day special and unique. Their families were so happy to see their loved ones being celebrated on their big day”.

  • 2020/2021 Alzheimer’s fundraiser event

    31 January 2021

For the duration of 2020 and moving into 2021 one of our care assistants has been valiantly fundraising for one of our chosen charities The Alzheimer’s society.

Jess Beirne was due to climb Ben Nevis in July 2020. With the pandemic, this was delayed until September 2020 and sadly delayed again until July 2021.

Regardless of the setbacks she has persevered with her fundraising events including car washes, cake sales and photography events. Jess has involved residents, relatives and co-workers and so far has raised a whopping £500 and is striving for the £1000 mark.

Well done Jess. Keep up the good work!

  • Green Light from CQC for home

    30 May 2019

We are delighted to announce an overall GOOD rating with an outstanding in caring from our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection in May 2019.

Representatives from CQC undertook an unannounced visit to the home on 9th April 2019, and the report has come through rating the home good for being safe, effective, responsive and well-led service with an outstanding in the caring section. The home provides residential and nursing care for up to 48 older people, some of whom are living with early-onset dementia.

    The report stated:

“The service was exceptionally caring. Peoples needs and wishes were met by staff who knew them well. We saw and were told of staff going “above and beyond”.

“Thoughtful touches were in place around the Home such as dog biscuits, children’s toys and drinks stations for residents and visitors to enjoy”.

“The service had strong person-centred values and placed peoples wellbeing at the heart of their work”.

“The Home had a tranquil and calm atmosphere”.

Ratings are given based on observations of the home by the unannounced CQC team, and on conversations with staff, residents and their relatives. The report is part of CQC's programme of inspections, with all adult social care services being given a rating. Comments from residents used in the report included:

“We rarely use the call button for help but the staff always emphasise “don’t be afraid to press the button, that’s what the button is for.”

“They bring me my medicine in a pot. They are always on time. They are very good like that.”

“The food is very tasty. Always piping hot”. “the fish is very nice; they gave us scallops with two days’ notice!!”

Justine Thelwell, General Manager, commented; “We are over the moon with the outcome of the report. We have an incredibly passionate and dedicated team who strive to deliver the greatest level of care for our residents. The accolade of receiving an outstanding for caring following this inspection was a true reflection of the genuine care our team offer every day”.
