Remembrance Day at St Cross Grange
At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we gathered to remember them.
Residents and team members came together in the conservatory, where a bell was sounded at 11am, followed by a two-minute silence. Another bell marked the end of the silence, and the Last Post was played, a poignant farewell to those who served.
Rob, our administrator, then read “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae, the famous First World War poem closely associated with Remembrance Day.
It was an emotional morning. Afterwards, we spent time together over tea and coffee, sharing stories and personal memories. With so many of our residents being ex-service personnel, this day holds a particularly special place in our hearts.
Lest we forget.
